Appointment will cement firm’s unique strength in litigation PR and see launch of competition and anti-trust practice
DRD Partnership, the strategic communications firm, has announced the appointment of Jon McLeod, 55, as a Partner, with effect from July.
McLeod, previously a Partner and Head of Public Affairs at Brunswick Group, and Chairman at Weber Shandwick, is currently part of the leadership team that recently delivered the launch of the new banking sector ombudsman, the Business Banking Resolution Service.
The move means that DRD will have three individuals who have been ranked as notable practitioners in Chambers’ authoritative guide to the best litigation PR agencies, with McLeod now working alongside Partner Kate Miller and DRD founder Claire Davidson.
Bringing connections across political parties, the law and industry sectors, McLeod will combine over 25 years’ experience in public affairs with particular knowledge on the burgeoning range of communications challenges arising from competition and anti-trust matters, where he has worked alongside leading legal firms in a wide range of transactions and investigations.
The launch of DRD Partnership’s competition and anti-trust practice comes after the recent appointment of solicitor Ed Bowie, who has joined the firm as an Associate from law firm Fieldfisher. There, he worked in its Public Law and Regulatory team specialising in advising clients on complex judicial review claims against government, and in responding to investigations from regulators, including the Competition and Markets Authority, where he previously worked as a lawyer.
Commenting on the move, DRD’s Chair, Alasdair Douglas, said:
“We welcome Jon McLeod as a highly-regarded practitioner, whom our clients will be able to turn to for guidance based on his long experience of advising at the highest level in political, legal and commercial environments.
“The launch of our Competition and Anti-Trust discipline will sit alongside our clear and established specialisms in litigation communications, now reinforced, and in public affairs, where we have senior bench strength.”
Jon McLeod said:
“For the technology and digital sectors in particular, the competition and anti-trust environment is presenting an increasing range of shifting challenges. Building in a structured and disciplined approach to communications and engagement alongside legal support is critical to client success.
“I look forward to deploying this new practice at DRD alongside its existing and established strengths in litigation communications and public affairs, where I hope to be able to apply my experience for the benefit of DRD’s clients.”
